Rachel Zoe calms qualms with a smart and savvy collection
Back in August, rumors arose indicating Zoe’s line was facing some trouble. A report in Page Six stated that the line wasn’t doing well at stores including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom, with “industry insiders snipping that interest in the line has ‘peaked.’” It was also suggested that Li & Fung, the Chinese retailer that produces the line, was “panicked” about the situation. Not long after, rumors arose that Zoe’s show would not have another season, a rumor which began last December when hubby Rodger Berman told Fashionista.com that the future of the show was “unclear.”
But for all the gossip about her line being in trouble, Zoe’s Spring 2013 was just the right mix of haute and appropriate for sale in the contemporary market. The pieces mixed ’70s equestrian colors and shapes with a dash of rock ‘n roll London underground thrown in. Three piece suits, fitted button downs, and leather pants were key items, as well as a the leather sweatshirt (done in faux pony hair), a jumpsuit, and a short-sleeved double breasted peacoat with a fur collar that tied at the waist.
